A collection of portrait pictures from Turkey

“Please don’t mind if they talk very loud. They live in different mountains and communicate by yelling”.

During Ramadan in Turkey, “I am not even fasting, but I think I eat more than the rest of the people”.

“I will just hold the tray so you can take a picture"

Me: “English?”
The shepherd just smiled at me and reminded me of Santiago Shepherd from the book “The Alchemist”

The salesman at a pottery: “He is the best potter in Avanos."

“Can you take a picture of me and my daughter?”
“Of course”
“Here is my restaurant business card. Come for dinner, ok?”

Me : “Can I pay with credit cards?”
The grocer : “No, I just post these stickers for decoration."

The girl: “I was on a fishing boat by myself for six months.”
Me : “Don’t you feel lonely?”
The girl: “Loneliness is not a choice. Mine is voluntary, so I like to call it “Solitude”. "

“Are you Japanese? Yes, you are Japanese for sure"

Me: “Here is your bread”.
The neighbor gave me 2 lira and kissed me on the cheeks.

“We are going to walk 150 km in 3 days. It is really fun. There will be parties and music at night. You should come”

“I used to be an engineer before I started doing glass art”

Me: I have never seen round artichokes in the United States.
The grocer: Where do you get your artichokes in the United States.
Me : In a can.

“Can you take a picture of me?"

“Don’t show my picture to your friends. They will think I am Osama Bin Laden”.
